SwapDraft is a Chrome extension and a website. The extension lets you mark passages in a draft, attach a note to each, and get rewrites of those passages from AI models. This page says what leaves your browser when you do that, what we keep, and who else is involved.

What stays in your browser

Your notes, the highlights, and anything you write in SwapDraft's built-in document editor are stored in the extension's local storage on your device. They are not uploaded, except for the parts included in a rewrite request (below). The extension only runs in the editors it supports, in its own pages, and on your SwapDraft account page. It does not read the other pages you visit.

What a rewrite sends

When you click Rewrite, the extension sends our server the text of the article you are editing, the passages you marked, and the notes you wrote for them. We pass that on to the AI models you selected so they can write the rewrites, and send the results back to the extension.

We do not store the article or your notes. For each run we keep a record with a fingerprint (hash) of the article, word counts, which models ran, how much they cost, and the rewritten passages they returned. The models' raw responses are deleted after 7 days.

What your account holds

• Your email address, which is how you sign in. We email you a sign-in link; there is no password.
• Your plan, credit balance and credit history, so we can show what you have and charge runs correctly.
• Sign-in records: the keys that connect your extension (stored only as hashes), and the IP address and browser of sign-ins and requests. We use these to keep accounts secure and to limit abuse of free credits.

The website sets one cookie, which keeps you signed in. It has no analytics, no advertising and no tracking cookies.

Chrome extension: Limited Use disclosure

The SwapDraft extension reads the content of the editor you are working in for a single purpose: to produce the rewrites you ask for. Its use of information received from Google APIs and of your web browsing activity adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. That content is never sold, never transferred to advertisers, never used for creditworthiness or lending purposes, and never used for anything beyond that feature.

Third parties

• AI model providers. Rewrite requests go through OpenRouter to the provider of each model you select (for example OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, DeepSeek, Z.ai or xAI). They receive the article text, the marked passages and your notes, and handle them under their own policies. They do not receive your email address.
• Email. Resend delivers the sign-in links we send you.
• Hosting. The website and its database run on Railway.
• Payments. Pro subscriptions are billed by Polar, our merchant of record. We never see your card details.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use your drafts to train models.

Deleting your data

Removing the extension deletes everything it stored in your browser. To delete your account and the records attached to it, email support@swapdraft.com from the address you signed up with.
